I have a 17inch PC HP and when I’m really happy that it is suitable for travel both for its size and short battery life. I’m quite impressed by this little netbook Acer is so beautiful than I expected. It starts early (I deleted some programs installed and opinions of the games). Battery life is said to be eight hours and I never had a problem with death even after several hours so you can imagine that a reasonable estimate. The touchpad is small but well react. The view is clear and sharp and comes with a webcam. Finally the price is great! I am very happy with this purchase.

Great buy!

I was mainly looking for a “laptop” that was light with a great battery life and I found it. The battery on this netwbook is great. It is also fast in terms of booting it up, browsing the web, etc. I reccomend using firefox or google chrome. 

The only bad thing about this laptop is Windows 7 starter.

Great computer. Don’t like keyboard. But great computer

I have an Acer Travelmate which is the epitome of CRAP! Had I thought about it one year ago, I might have passed it up. But, this is my second Aspire One. When I saw the Aspire One in a Best Buy store a year ago, it did not even seem like it came from the same company. My first Aspire One was/is of excellent quality. The first one with an SSD has been running my online radio station since Feb ’09 24/7 except for three times I stopped it momentarily for a programming change. In other words, it has been an unbelievable computer for me. So I waited for this one with newer processor and large HDD. So far, I love it. Don’t use it but a few times a week. I would prefer a different keyboard, the keys are too close, too slick. I miss keys and type wrong keys when I try to feel my way around it. 

But the computer is great! That is my only complaint, but I’m getting used to paying more attention when I type. And the long battery life can’t be beat. I might have bought a different brand with a different keyboard had I played with it first instead

excellent little machine

When I first got this netbook I wa a little apprehensive having always worked on a full sized desktop. Now my desktop only gets turned on to warm it up occasionally. This acer aspire carries all my pictures and music and will go online anywhere. I have dialup at home so I had to purchase a usb modem and then I bought a laser mouse. None of which was really needed but just love my netbook so much I am on it all the time

Netbooking is better than notebooking

Since I’ve had my netbook for 30 days I feel I give a fairly decent review. The screen is excellent; bright & crisp. The smaller screen is very easy to get used to. The smaller keyboard takes a few days to adjust to. I actually prefer the smaller keypad to the normal size. The touchpad is just like all the laptop/notebook touchpads just smaller. 

Windows 7 Starter? Well, it’s a major improvement over Vista. Just like any new Windows Operating system it does take time to appreciate. The netbook comes pre-loaded with bloatware. I started removing the unwanted resource hogs from the system fairly quickly after the first startup. I also installed extra RAM. Swapping out the RAM is very easy to do. I tweaked Windows 7 Starter to work more efficiently with the Netbook. The end result is a fast machine for net surfing & word processing. 

I enjoy using my netbook so much more than my notebook. The notebook just feels heavy & bulky. My netbook can handle all the tasks I use to lug my notebook around for. In the future I’ll spend the major dollars on a upgradable Desktop & purchase the newest version of the netbooks.

Received the netbook from Amazon very quickly (free shipping). Opened the box and plugged it in. Worked great right out of the box. 

Couple of weeks later purchased a 2 gb memory chip and installed it VERY EASILY. 

All in all a great buy.

Impressive little machine

My laptop prior to this netbook was a 17″ Dell which I loved for the frequent presentations I did as an instructor. However, it was a bit bulky to carry around while going back to school for a second degree. I wanted something light and functional. After reading multiple reviews on several options, I came to this one. It was easy to set up. One of the things I immediately noticed was that it had no problem connecting to my secure home network like my Dell has. I am not sure if this is a Windows 7 improvement or a Acer design benefit. The eight hour battery continuously proves to be true. There have been three days I received 9 hours of use out of it. Should you choose this computer, it is essential that you get the 2 G of ram. I found it to be slow, even while downloading web pages. The 2 G of ram corrected this problem. It runs all other programs without difficulty. Hi Def video is a little jumpy. However, the purpose for this machine for me is web interaction, music, and word processing. If you need something simple and portable to do task with throughout the day this is the computer for you.

Nice little computer

I’m happy with this netbook, it has a great screen that goes bright enough for outdoor use. There is a lot of crapware that comes on it initially, but if you can remove a lot of that it becomes pretty quick. It is able to play youtube high quality videos just fine, but it won’t play youtube hd videos. It also can’t handle 4.7 gig h.264 720p videos with either Media Player Classic Home Cinema or VLC, so I was a little bummed about that. My dad has a similar spec’d netbook running XP home and he is able to play the 720p h.264 files – so Win7 starter might be hurting us there. 

The battery life really is almost 8 hours if you aren’t doing video or flash. 

The keyboard feels nice, but it noticeably dips when you press the keys, I hope all that flexing isn’t going to cause problems in the future. The trackpad advertises the gestures, and they work… sort of, I find it either not sensitive enough or way too sensitive, there doesn’t seem to be any middle ground. So web page scrolling has me using the arrow keys rather than the trackpad.
